AceShowbiz - Objectively Good Media (OGM) is in the early stages of developing "Seventy-Two", an authorized biopic about Steve Harvey. The film will center on a transformative 72-hour period in 1993 leading up to Harvey's career-defining performance at the Apollo Theatre.
Producers for the biopic include Mohamed Kheir and Matthew R. Cooper of OGM, as well as East 112, headed by Harvey and Thabiti Stephens, Chief Strategy Officer of Steve Harvey Global. A writer has yet to be attached to the project.
"Seventy-Two" will provide audiences an intimate look at the challenges and perseverance that shaped Harvey's career. At age 26, he left a secure sales job to pursue comedy, facing numerous setbacks along the way. By age 36, he was confronting self-doubt and personal struggles as he prepared for the Apollo performance that would change everything.
OGM brought the concept to Harvey and East 112. "I've been reluctant to make a movie about my life for years," said Harvey. "It focuses on one of the most difficult moments in my journey and career, and shows the world that hope is never truly lost."
Mohamed Kheir of OGM added, "Securing the rights to tell this story has been an incredible honor. Steve Harvey's resilience and determination will shine through in 'Seventy-Two.'"
Harvey's career spans nearly four decades, from his early stand-up days in the 1980s to hosting "Showtime at the Apollo" and his role on "The Steve Harvey Show". He has earned multiple Daytime Emmys for his talk show, hosted "Family Feud" for years, and is also known as an author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur.
Objectively Good Media, founded in 2023, is known for its recent production "Damned If You Do" and recently appointed Anna Dragoo as its Head of Development.
