AceShowbiz - Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is set to make his big-screen debut in "Loose Cannons", an action comedy in development at Lionsgate. The film centers around two rogue police officers who are forced to work together after their precincts merge due to budget cuts.
Kelce has been cast as one of the lead roles, joining a cast that includes other star-studded names (not yet disclosed). The plot of the film is currently under wraps, but it is expected to draw inspiration from classic buddy action comedies like "Lethal Weapon", "Bad Boys" and "Rush Hour".
Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the "John Wick" franchise, will produce the film alongside Jason Spitz and Alex Young. The screenplay is written by Timothy Dowling, who has penned several big-studio comedies, including "Role Models", "Pixels" and "This Means War".
Kelce's casting in "Loose Cannons" marks a significant step in his growing Hollywood career. Since signing with CAA in 2023, he has hosted "Saturday Night Live" and landed a role on the upcoming FX horror series "Grotesquerie". He is also set to host a reboot of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" for Amazon titled "Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?".
Lionsgate is looking forward to the addition of Kelce to the "Loose Cannons" cast. The film is expected to begin filming later this year after the NFL season concludes.
