The 'Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile' actor hit the bottom of the pool during a swim with friends in Ibiza on Saturday morning, August 3 and he ingested water into his lungs.

AceShowbiz - Details of Zac Efron's recent swimming accident have been revealed after fans were left concerned. The actor was hospitalized in Ibiza last weekend after a pool dive gone wrong at a luxurious villa in Spain.

Per TMZ's report, the Kevin Von Erich in "The Iron Claw" hit the bottom of the swimming pool and ingested water into his lungs. He went for a swim with friends very early Saturday morning, August 3 in Ibiza when he decided to take a dive.

The dive was so deep that the "High School Musical" star ingested a large amount of waters into his lungs when his chest hit the bottom of the pool. He showed signs of distress and onsite security helped him out of the water. He was momentarily dazed and was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure.

At the hospital, Zac took a chest x-ray to confirm the water was gone from his lungs. He was cleared for release within hours but chose to stay at the hospital because there were tons of photographers who had gotten wind of the swimming pool incident when he was there.

He went back to his normal schedule after getting back to his villa from the hospital the next day.

Previously, sources told TMZ, "Zac was found inside the swimming pool by two people working at the villa who pulled him out of the water." His representative confirmed that "The Greatest Showman" star was hospitalized as a "precautionary measure" and was released the following morning, recovering just fine.

As evidenced in his social media update following the incident, he's already working out one day after the hospitalization. In the picture shared by the 36-year-old hunk on Instagram on Sunday, he was lifting weights while lying on top of an exercise ball. "Happy and healthy," he wrote on the top of the snap, adding, "Thanks for the well wishes."
