AceShowbiz - Marlon Wayans has officially filed a response to Brittany Moreland's request for full custody of their daughter, Axl. In court documents obtained by ET, the comedian and actor is seeking joint physical and legal custody.
Wayans' response comes after Moreland, who previously requested full custody and visitation rights for Wayans, called him an "entitled" woman in an interview with The Shade Room. Wayans expressed his displeasure at being referred to as a "visitor" to his daughter.
In his court documents, Wayans filed a voluntary declaration of parentage and requested that expenses related to pregnancy, birth and legal fees be shared jointly. Moreland had previously requested that Wayans cover these costs.
Wayans, who also shares two children with ex-wife Angelica Zachary, argued that he is a responsible father who pays over $18,000 per month for Axl's care. He refused to be called a "visitor" and asserted that his contributions should be recognized.
The custody battle comes over a year after Wayans lost his father Howell Wayans in 2023 and his mother Elvira in 2020. Wayans credits comedy with helping him cope with his recent losses.
According to Moreland's court documents, Axl spends the majority of her time with her mother. Moreland had requested $2,000 per month from Wayans for childcare so that she could continue working.
Wayans addressed Moreland's child support requests in his interview with The Shade Room, stating that he believes she is being unreasonable. He argued that his contributions as a father should be taken into account.
The latest developments in Wayans' custody battle are still ongoing. The court will decide on the custody arrangements after considering the arguments of both parties.
