Even the greatest of athletes face insecurities. Serena Williams, the tennis legend, opens up about her struggles with body image and the importance of self-care in a heartfelt social media post.

AceShowbiz - Serena Williams, the iconic 23-time Grand Slam champion, is taking an empowering step towards self-care, a concept that has always been challenging for her to embrace. In a recent Instagram video, the 42-year-old tennis pro shared her experience undergoing a radio frequency treatment at a spa in Paris. This decision is deeply rooted in her journey of balancing motherhood with personal wellness.

"Being ok to take time for myself is something I have always struggled with," Williams, who shares daughters Adira, 10 months, and Alexis Olympia, 6, with husband Alexis Ohanian, 41, candidly wrote. She revealed that a friend gifted her this spa day during a girls' trip to Paris, aiming to help her feel more confident about her post-pregnancy body.

"She knows after 2 babies I have been self conscious of my tummy. I just had to post this video she took. The results have been amazing," Williams wrote, sharing her excitement about the progress she's noticed. She emphasized that while her body has changed, the presence of her two children has also transformed her life in wonderful ways.

The radio frequency treatment, explained by the Cleveland Clinic, uses an electromagnetic device to generate heat which stimulates the production of collagen, elastin, and new skin cells, effectively lifting sagging skin. This procedure has significantly boosted Williams' confidence, helping her skin return to a sense of normalcy.

Despite her overall positive outlook, Williams expressed a deep affection for her birthing scars, the result of an emergency c-section during her first daughter's birth. "I will always love my birthing scars," she affirmed, acknowledging the life-threatening complications she faced, including a pulmonary embolism.

The tennis icon also highlighted the challenges of separating from her children and work to focus on herself. "I finally started being ok to take an hour (during nap time) away from my kids and work to do something for myself. I always feel guilty leaving them but I have to also remember taking care of myself, will only help me take better care of them," she shared.

Williams ended her post encouraging her followers to share their self-care routines or struggles. In return, she received numerous supportive comments, with many praising her for her vulnerability and sincerity.

Serena Williams' journey is a powerful testament to the importance of self-care, even for those at the pinnacle of their careers. Her story serves as a reminder that taking time for oneself is not only okay but essential for overall well-being.
