Variety's editor-in-chief breaks silence on the controversial pairing of Kim Kardashian and Chloe Sevigny, explaining that Chloe only stepped in as a replacement.

AceShowbiz - The recent "Actors on Actors" interview pairing Kim Kardashian and Chloe Sevigny for Variety garnered significant backlash, sparking debates about celebrity culture and the meaning of being an actor. The pairing seemed odd, given Kardashian's limited acting experience compared to Sevigny's seasoned career and Oscar nomination.

Variety's co-Editor-in-Chief Ramin Setoodeh has since addressed the controversy on Meghan McCain's podcast, "Citizen McCain", revealing some unexpected behind-the-scenes details.

Setoodeh disclosed that Sevigny wasn't initially slated to partner with Kardashian. "Kim Kardashian had someone else that she was supposed to pair with," Setoodeh explained. "That actor called in sick on a Friday night, and Kim was supposed to do this on a Sunday."

As a last-minute solution, Sevigny, who shares a connection with Kardashian through their work in the Ryan Murphy universe, stepped in graciously. Despite the online criticism, Setoodeh clarified that there was no ill intent from Sevigny.

"People have strong feelings about Kim Kardashian and they don't like that she's acting, even though she was a star of her own show on FX, 'American Horror Story,' " he explained. He also noted that Sevigny was excited to participate. "Chloe was really excited to talk to Kim. I was in the greenroom with her right before she went on and they really liked each other."

Following the interview, Sevigny posted the joint cover on Instagram with a thoughtful message, "Our chosen career of actor has many forms. Some are rewarded early. Some of us are the journeymen, some have a quieter route, and some a much louder one. And I am always excited to celebrate every kind of actor."

Setoodeh did not reveal the name of the originally planned partner but teased that he might acknowledge correct guesses on social media. For those still dissatisfied, his advice was simple, "If you don't like a pairing, just watch one of the other pairings."
