The 'All About That Bass' singer has expressed her dream of joining the judging panel of the iconic singing competition show to replace the 'I Kissed a Girl' hitmaker who left earlier this year.

AceShowbiz - On June 12, Meghan Trainor appeared on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" and revealed her passion to be a judge on "American Idol". This enthusiastic plea from Trainor comes after Katy Perry revealed in February that she was leaving her role as a judge to focus on other projects, particularly her music.
Trainor has already reached out to industry contacts to express her interest although she acknowledges that they "don't really have the full say" but added, "I have begged."
"I've done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job and I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world," Trainor declared.
Despite not having received any updates, Trainor is hopeful. "I haven't heard any updates so check my emails but that is my dream job. I want to drive to work American Idol and then drive home," she added.
Trainor's love for talent shows isn't new; she has previously served as a judge on "The Four: Battle for Stardom" in 2018, "The Voice UK" in 2020, and "Australian Idol" in 2023. "Love being a part of that process, I just get way too attached," she shared. "It's like my favorite show, I've watched it since I was a child."
Support for Trainor's potential new role came from both "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest and judge Luke Bryan. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in April, Seacrest said, "Meghan is a super talent too, and she's got a great sense of humor. She's fun and she's spontaneous." Bryan added, "[She's] real witty, so certainly [she would fit in]."
Kelly Clarkson, the show's first-ever winner, was also considered to replace Perry. However, she declined due to a promise she made to her children, explaining, "I wanna be there as much as I possibly can. And it would put me in L.A."
With endorsements from key figures like Seacrest and Bryan, along with Trainor's rich history in television talent shows, fans are eagerly awaiting to see if she will join Lionel Richie and the rest of the "American Idol" team. For now, the singer remains hopeful and ready at a moment's notice, "Please, please consider me on your show. Please American Idol! Please! I'm ready."
