The timing of their union sparked rumors, with many speculating that Lanez intended to avoid deportation back to Canada by marrying Chassagne. Despite the rapid progression of their relationship, including an engagement and then a marriage closely following Lanez's bail motion, the marriage was ultimately short-lived.
During Lanez's sentencing, Chassagne was visibly emotional and even pleaded with the judge to show leniency, citing Lanez's dedication as a father. In an interview with HNHH, Lanez revealed that Kai was born on the same day he was initially arrested. However, the strains of his legal battles and their consequences have proven too heavy on Lanez's marriage, culminating in its dissolution less than a year after it began.
