During her heartfelt acceptance speech, the Cuban-American singer-songwriter profoundly acknowledged the female powerhouse in her life, her mother Sinuhe Estrabao.
"When the world is suffering, headlines make my chest ache with news of war and death with dangerous amounts of lack of compassion, my mom reminds me that there is love in this world," said Cabello. "Her best advice is not something she says but something she practices, her kindness, empathy and most importantly, how she treats people."
This award celebrated Cabello's contributions to popular culture and her efforts to use her platform to advocate for critical issues such as immigration, mental health, climate change and LGBTQ+ rights. "Hopefully when I'm no longer here, I want the legacy I leave behind to make the world, somehow, more loving," Cabello expressed to Billboard.
Cabello's path to stardom began as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony from 2012 to 2016, catapulting her to fame. "I really feel that I come from a family of f–king hustlers," she noted, crediting her parents' work ethic for her own drive. This familial strength translates into her philanthropic efforts, partnering with organizations like This Is About Humanity and Miami Freedom Project and raising substantial funds to fight for LGBTQ+ rights and provide mental health resources.
