While the 22-year-old singer looked stunning in the Balmain strapless sculptural gown, she had to admit that she could hardly move in the dress. The "Truth or Dare" songstress even had to be carried up the Met steps because she felt restricted by the ensemble, which was crafted by Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing and his team.

Eventually, Tyla and her team had to compromise her aesthetic with a bold alteration mid-Met Gala. In a behind-the-scenes video posted by Rousteing, he could be seen cutting off the floor-length train of the unique dress, resulting in an equally beautiful mini dress.

"And what you didn't see … inside the MET," the designer captioned the video.

Internet users were shocked to see what they did to the beautiful dress. "You cut it?!?! That beautiful work of art??!" a shocked fan wrote in the comments section. Echoing the sentiment, one other noted, "I would never cut that dress."

Earlier in the night, Rousteing told Vogue that the inspiration for Tyla's Met Gala dress was a "desire to redefine boundaries and transform a transient material into an everlasting masterpiece." Of the ensemble, which fit perfectly with "The Garden of Time" theme, he added, "The idea of sculpting a garment from something as ephemeral as sand ignited my imagination and I could not be happier with the end result."
