In a new interview, the 47-year-old 'Hips Don't Lie' singer is asked if she really discovered the former soccer player's infidelity after returning from a trip thanks to a jar of jam.

AceShowbiz - Shakira has clarified rumors about her split from her ex Gerard Pique. In a new interview, the "Hips Don't Lie" singer set record straight regarding speculations about his cheating.

While speaking with The Sunday Times, the 47-year-old was asked if she really discovered the former soccer player's infidelity thanks to a jar of jam. The Colombian superstar had a simple response to the question, saying, "Not true."

Prior to this, it was said that the "Waka Waka" singer, who just returned home from a trip, found that some of her favorite jam was missing. Because Gerard didn't like the jam, that led to a speculation that the 35-year-old ex-athlete, who is now dating Clara Chia Marti, brought someone else to their house and that person was responsible for the missing jam.

The rumor emerged after Shakira released the song and music video for "Te Felicito" with Rauw Alejandro just two months after she and Gerard split. In the music video, the singer was seen looking in her fridge.

Of the scene, Shakira explained in a May 2022 interview on U.K.'s TV show "This Morning" that she looked in the fridge "to find the truth." The musician continued, "It is when I go to the fridge and find the head of Rauw Alejandro."

Elsewhere in the interview, Shakira admitted to putting her career on hold for many years to be with Gerard and support his football career. "For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so he could play football," she shared. "There was a lot of sacrifice for love."

"My priority was my home, my family. I believed in 'till death do us part.' I believed that dream," she continued. "My parents have been together, I don't know, 50 years, and they love each other like the first day, with a love that's unique and unrepeatable. So I know it's possible. It's what I wanted for myself and my children, but it didn't happen."

The couple met in 2010 on the set of her "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" music video. During their relationship, they welcomed two sons, Milan and Sasha.
