The 'Wednesday' actress, who has withdrawn from the upcoming slasher film, is caught liking a post about her 'Scream' co-star standing on her ground about her posts on the Israel-Hamas war.

AceShowbiz - Jenna Ortega appears to support Melissa Barrera following the latter's firing from "Scream 7" a.k.a. "Scream VII". The "Wednesday" star has seemingly subtly defended her "Scream" co-star, who was dropped from the upcoming movie due to her pro-Palestine posts.

While Ortega has not publicly addressed Barrera's shocking removal from the seventh installment of the slasher film series, the 21-year-old has been caught liking a post about Barrera. She clicked the like on celebrities4palestine's post that read, "Melissa Barrera Stands Her Ground After Being Dropped From Scream For Speaking Up For Palestine."

Spyglass Media Group confirmed on Tuesday, November 21 that Barrera was dropped from the cast for the upcoming movie due to her posts about the conflict in Middle East. "Spyglass' stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech," the company said.

One day later, the actress broke her silence on the matter as she stated via her Instagram Story, "First and foremost I condemn Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. I condemn hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people."

The 33-year-old explained her cause, "As a latina, a proud Mexicana, I feel the responsibility of having a platform that allows me the privilege of being heard, and therefore I have tried to use it to raise awareness about issues I care about and to lend my voice to those in need."

Refusing to be silenced on the issue, she continued, "I pray day and night for no more deaths, for no more violence, and for peaceful co-existence. I will continue to speak out for those that need it most and continue to advocate for peace and safety, for human rights and freedom," before concluding her statement by saying, "Silence is not an option for me."

Since then, Barrera has apparently gained supporters. As reported by Pop Tingz on X, formerly Twitter, the actress has gained nearly 400k followers within 48 hours after being removed from the planned "Scream VI" sequel.

Meanwhile, Ortega is not going to return to "Scream 7" either, though it's reported that it had nothing to do with Barrera's firing. According to Deadline, the actress dropped out of the movie due to a scheduling conflict with the second season of her Netflix series "Wednesday". She allegedly had discussed her exit from "Scream 7" before the actors strike began.
