AceShowbiz - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's fans were not feeling his new wax figure. Many people on social media criticized the new statue that was debuted by The Musee Grevin in Paris on Monday, October 16.
The waxwork doesn't really resemble the 51-year-old actor. The sculpture, which lacks the actor's darker skin tone, is dressed in a blue Polo T-shirt, jeans and black-and-white sneakers.
Many have since reacted to the artwork. "They whitewashed the Rock," one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "Why's he white? And when are you going to fix it?" another wondered, while a third asked, "Why would you white wax [wash] him?"
Others, in the meantime, saw the wax figure resembling The Rock's "Fast and Furious" co-star, Vin Diesel. "That's Vin 'The Rock' Diesel," one user quipped, with another writing, "Are they trying to heal the spat between The Rock and Vin Diesel by doing a two for one wax figure?"
The Rock has yet to comment on his wax figure. The debacle, however, arrived more than a week after the "Black Adam" leading man addressed backlash over the Maui wildfire fund.
The Rock joined forces with Oprah Winfrey in August to launch the People's Fund for Maui, but the celebrity duo faced criticism after they called on the public to contribute to the fund. The wrestler-turned-actor said in an Instagram video, "When we first launched the fund, there was some backlash that came with launching the fund, and I want to address that backlash. I get it, and I completely understand, and I could have been better. And next time, I will be better."
Acknowledging that money is "not growing on trees," the Hollywood star added, "I get it. I know what it's like. I've lived paycheque to paycheque." He went on to note, "When you are living paycheque to paycheque, the last thing you want to hear is someone asking you for money, especially when the person asking you for money already has a lot of money."
