AceShowbiz - Meek Mill doesn't regret voicing his support for Tory Lanez despite receiving backlash. Responding to the criticism, the "Going Bad" rapper launched a public rant on the Instagram-associated Threads app.
"I say free Young Thug… Free [YFN Lucci]… Free [YNW Melly]," the 36-year-old wrote. I don't even know why y'all start dealing with us if y'all gon' try to smear us… That's why I stick to the trenches."
In a follow-up post, Meek argued, "Narrative control starts every Monday. Nobody gives a f**k what these people talking [about], we making real life change out here every day! If I said free MUMIA, [I'm] gonna be shamed! He's allegedly guilty for killing a few male [cops]!" He added, "I grew up to the Black nation screaming that! Why do y'all think y'all can control us? We got millions and real man influence, not internet tricks!"
Meek even re-shared the first post on his Instagram Story. He added a message that read, "What is the draw line, I got n***as locked up for bodies the ain't do... I don't got a controlled voice."
Meek declared his support For Tory when taking the stage at Rolling Loud Portugal on July 7. After performing their collaborative single "Litty" from 2016's "DC4", the Philadelphia native told the crowd, "That was lit. Free Tory Lanez too, one time."
Tory has been behind bars ahead of his sentencing in Megan Thee Stallion's shooting case. The Canadian emcee, who's facing up to 22 years and eight months imprisonment, was supposed to be sentenced on June 13, but the date has been pushed back to August 7.
Tory previously sought to disqualify a judge in the case, but his attempt was rejected. The incarcerated emcee made the request after his motion for a new trial was dismissed by Judge David Herriford. He even claimed the judge tried "ruin his life" the day before his May 9 court appearance.
