AceShowbiz - Kanye West can heave a sigh of relief. A new report reveals that the "Donda" artist will not face any charges in battery investigation after he grabbed and threw a female photographer's cellphone back in January.
According to TMZ, the Ventura Co. District Attorney's Office revealed on Wednesday, March 15 that the phone had only suffered "minor damage" to its $30 protective case. It was also said that the paparazzo declined to press charges against the Yeezy designer.
In January, Ye became the suspect in a battery investigation. The inquiry was launched after the controversial 45-year-old rapper was involved in a "heated exchange" with a woman, who was allegedly "following" him to his kids' basketball game in Los Angeles.
In a video of the back-and-forth, Ye was seen confronting the woman who was caught filming him. "You didn't have to run up on me like that," the Chicago star told her. "If I say stop, stop with your cameras!"
The woman, however, refused to stop filming and even suggested that she was within her rights to film him because he is a "celebrity." Angered, Ye snatched the phone and threw it into the street. While the incident occurred, Kanye's new wife Bianca Censori was waiting in his SUV.
A law enforcement source told TMZ that Kanye was the "named suspect in a battery investigation, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department were called to the scene and were provided video evidence of the incident."
That day was a rough one for Ye as he also confronted another paparazzo. He pulled up in front of a group of paparazzi who had been recording him. "You want me to be running up on your kids' games like that?" the superstar asked a pap, who then responded, "There's a hundred of us."
"Everybody needs to stop when I see my kids. If I need to see my kids, you can't photograph me. It's called human rights," Ye stressed before leaving.
