Director Todd Phillips shares a new picture of 'Joker: Folie a Deux' featuring GaGa's mystery character getting up close with Joaquin Phoenix's Joker on Valentine's Day.

AceShowbiz - This Valentine's Day, meet one of the most famous fictional couples to be depicted on screen. Building up the anticipation for "Joker: Folie a Deux", director Todd Phillips has shared the first look at Lady GaGa in character along with Joaquin Phoenix, who reprises his role as Arthur Fleck a.k.a. Joker.

Making use of his Instagram page on Tuesday, February 14, Phillips unleashed the never-before-seen picture of the upcoming movie. In the image, GaGa's mystery character is seen getting intimate with Fleck.

GaGa's character looks obsessed with Fleck as she puts her hand on his face. Fleck's Joker makeup is faded, but some of it has clearly rubbed off on the face of GaGa's character. Phillips simply captioned the picture with, "Happy Valentines Day."

While it has not been confirmed yet, GaGa is believed to play Harley Quinn, a psychiatrist who falls in love with Fleck. Margot Robbie, who has portrayed the character in "Suicide Squad" (2016), "Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" (2020) and "The Suicide Squad" (2020), has expressed her support for the Golden Globe-winning actress to take on the role.

"It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, the way Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor," the Australian actress told MTV back in October 2022. "And I feel like in not so many cases are they female characters. Queen Elizabeth I, but like beyond that - which I got to have a crack at as well, which I was honored to do. I was like, 'Wow, Cate Blanchett did Queen Elizabeth I. Now I get to.' "

She added, "It's such an honor to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters who other actors get to have a go at playing. And I think she'll do something incredible with it."

Zazie Beetz will reprise her role as Sophie Dumond in the "Joker" sequel, while Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland and Harry Lawtey have been cast in undisclosed roles. Shooting is currently underway in New York and Los Angeles for the film, which is slated to arrive in U.S. theaters on October 4, 2024.
