Taking to their social media accounts to share the news, the two actors can't hide their excitement as they jointly confirm their return as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Miles Burnett.

AceShowbiz - Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back as fan favorite goofy detective duo. The two actors are officially set to reunite for another new installment of the buddy cop film franchise, "Bad Boys 4".
Sharing the news of the fourth movie on Tuesday, January 31, Smith posted on his Instagram account a video of him making the announcement. "Yo, I've got an announcement," he said in the beginning of the video as he climbed into a car and began driving. "Y'all better stop scrolling. Seriously."
He then headed to Lawrence's house and knocked on the door. Once Lawrence opened the door, he asked, "It's about that time?" They screamed in unison, "Bad boys 4 life," before riffing on the fact that the third film, released in 2020, was already titled "Bad Boys for Life".
Lawrence shared the same video on his own verified account with the identical caption, "IT'S ABOUT THAT TIME!"
According to Deadline, "Bad Boys 4" is currently still in early pre-production at Sony Pictures, with "Bad Boys for Life" directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah returning to helm from a script by Chris Bremner. Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith for Westbrook, Doug Belgrad and Chad Oman are back producing, with Lawrence, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman and Jon Mone serving as executive producers.
"Bad Boys for Life", which was released 17 years after the second movie "Bad Boys II" (2003), also stars Paola Nunez, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Kate del Castillo, Nicky Jam and Joe Pantoliano. The third film grossed $424.6 million against a production budget of $90 million.
Plot details are still kept under wraps and it's currently unknown if any other cast members will return for the fourth movie.
Back in July 2022, Lawrence confirmed that "Bad Boys 4" was still very much a go in the wake of Smith's infamous Oscars slap. He told Ebony, "We got one more at least." He added of the franchise, "It was big. For us to come together and prove that we can deliver, and we can pull people into the box office - that two black stars, two sitcom stars, could make money at the box office [was huge]."
