Kate del Castillo is a Mexican and American actress who has captivated audiences across the globe, first rising to fame as a telenovela star in her native Mexico before achieving international acclaim for her leading role in the hit series La Reina del Sur. Born Kate del Castillo Negrete Trillo on October 23, 1972, she began her career at a remarkably young age, landing her first major role at just 19 in the 1991 Televisa telenovela Muchachitas. This breakout performance established her as a household name in Latin America, and she quickly followed it with a string of successful telenovelas, including Alguna vez tendremos alas in 1997, La Mentira in 1998, Ramona in 2000, and Bajo la misma piel from 2003 to 2004, solidifying her status as one of the region’s most popular leading ladies.
