AceShowbiz - "The Bachelor" returned with all-new episodes as season 27 premiered on Monday, January 23. In the first episode of Zach Shallcross' season of the ABC dating show, the tech exec from California met thirty women who were hoping to catch his attention with a lasting first impression.
Prior to this, Zach was introduced to five of the women, Brooklyn, Brianna, Bailey, Christine and Cat, during the finale of last season of "The Bachelorette". America later voted for a woman who would get the first impression rose. Briana was the winner, so she's safe from elimination. Zach met the rest of the women in the premiere episode.
The first woman who walked out of the limo was Jess, a 23-year-old e-commerce coordinator. Following it up was Ariel, a 28-year-old marketing coordinator. She said that even though she missed her flight, nothing could stop her from being there. David, a 25-year-old marketing manager, arrived with a bottle of champagne with her. Meanwhile, 25-year-old account executive Gabs brought him Vermont maple syrup from home.
Other women included Viktoria E., a nanny from Vienna, Austria, business owner Madison, healthcare therapist Aly, and content marketing manager Anastasia. Bailey later arrived and got the first kiss of the night. Zach additionally promised not to forget her name this time.
There were also restaurant marketer Vanessa, hospitality manager Kimberly, stylist Olivia M. and makeup artist Victoria J, the latter of whom praised Zach for his "incredibly attractive" voice. Among the women who made an impressive entrance was Mercedes. The 24-year-old is a pig farmer and she definitely stole the show when she brought Henry the pig with her.
Later in the episode, a party bus arrived. Christina Mandrell got out of the buss and told Zach that she was coming from a bachelorette party. After nursing student Becca and corporate recruiter Cara arrived, Brianna made her entrance. She had the rose which Zach previously gave her with her.
Speaking with the women, Zach shared that he's just a dude who loves family, football and frozen pizza. He also said that he's looking for a long-lasting and honest relationship which his parents still have until now.
He then had a chat with Katherine and he felt a spark between them. Kaity then approached him for a chat. The two kissed with Kaity calling Zach a good kisser. Christina also shared a kiss, a longer one, with Zach. They also had fun on the party bus as Christina poured champagne down Zach's mouth.
During his moment with Greer, she told Zach that her parents are still together, and so are her two sets of grandparents. She added that she wanted to settle down in Houston, although she's currently living in New York. The pair later made out with other women watching from inside.
Madison then attempted to have a moment with Zach. She wanted a kiss from Zach before the night concluded and he did kiss her. However, it was more like a peck and she wished it was more. Zach said that the kiss didn't feel right and he was overwhelmed with her.
That made Madison feel not wanted. Some other girls were also crying because they didn't get to spend time with Zach. Meanwhile, Zach enjoyed a hot makeout session with Charity before having another one with Jess.
It was time for the first impression rose. Zach called Greer to go for a talk. She told Zach that she felt a spark with him and he said he felt the same. He presented the first impression rose to her and they sealed it with a kiss.
Madison was hysterically crying because she thought she would get the rose. She later interrupted when Zach was talking with host Jesse Palmer. Madison asked Zach if he wanted her on this journey and Zach said no. Crying, Madison walked away and left. When she was inside the limo, she said that she couldn't believe she gave up her life for him.
As he rejoined the women, Zach told them that Madison left. He told them that he planned on doing things with honesty and clarity. Later, he gave out roses to Christina, Charity, Bailey, Jess, Genevie, Davia, Aly, Brooklyn, Kaity, Anastasia, Kylee, Gabi, Katherine, Mercedes, Ariel, Victoria J., Kimberly and Cat. Women who didn't get the roses were eliminated.
