The 'Big Momma's House' star isn't choosing sides because both Will and Chris are like 'brothers' to him as he compares the situation to seeing 'brothers fightin'.'

AceShowbiz - Though Martin Lawrence personally knows Will Smith and Chris Rock, he has restrained himself from speaking too much about their Oscars slap drama. Now it's obvious why he was reluctant in giving his take on the situation publicly as they see both actors as his "brothers."

The "Black Night" star said in a video published on ESPN's YouTube channel, "Well, it hurt me to see that happen," in response to a question about what unfolded before everyone's eyes on March 27. He added, "Because I know both of them. Both of them are my brothers."

Chris confirmed he reached out to both actors after the "unfortunate situation." He said, "And when it happened, I text both of them after it happened, just to see how they were doing and everything. But, it was just an unfortunate situation."

Noting that "Will wasn't in the right space that night," he also regretted that it happened to the "Saturday Night Live" alum. "Chris Rock didn't deserve that," he stressed, before adding, "So, it's such an unfortunate situation. It's like seeing your brothers fightin' and you don't want to see your brothers fightin'. Chris Rock didn't deserve that at all."

When praised for showing love and understanding to Will despite his "mistake," the 57-year-old insinuated that his feeling for Chris is the same. "They both need the love," he declared.

Chris starred alongside Will in the "Bad Boys" film series. After the duo reprised their roles in 2020's "Bad Boys for Life", there have been rumors that "Bad Boys 4" could be on the horizon, but it's suggested that Will's Oscars slap could end the franchise.

However, in a cover feature for Ebony, Lawrence insisted that the Oscars moment would not affect their plans for the franchise. "We got one more at least," he said back in July.
