Titled 'The Dial of Destiny', the upcoming fifth installment of the globe-trotting adventure film franchise brings Harrison Ford's Indy back from retirement as an archaeologist and adventurer.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer for the long-awaited new "Indiana Jones" movie is here. Unleashed on Thursday, December 1, the video unveils the official title, "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny", as well as a de-aged Harrison Ford.

Ford is only de-aged in the opening sequence of the film, which is set in the 1940s. The beginning of the trailer juxtaposes the death-defying actions that Ford's Indy is often whisked in and his reality now in which he's stuck to teaching.

"Those days have come and gone," Indy says of his glory days of archeology and adventures. He also narrates in the trailer, "I don't believe in magic, but a few times in my life I've seen things. Things I can't explain."

For some reasons, Indy agrees to pick up his fedora again, bringing him on another adventure that sees him narrowly avoiding a train on horseback and bullwhipping some henchmen. The video also gives first look at villains played by Mads Mikkelsen and Antonio Banderas, as well as Indy's goddaughter Helena, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. John Rhys-Davies reprises his role as Sallah and Toby Jones stars as Basil.

The official logline has not been released, but it has been revealed that the fifth "Indiana Jones" movie is set in 1969, during the Space Race between the U.S. and Soviet Russia. Indy had started to feel doubts when the U.S. Government recruited former World War II enemies in their desperation to beat the Soviet Union out in the competition to make it to space. His goddaughter Helena accompanies him on his journey. Meanwhile, Voller, a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the moon-landing program, wishes to make the world into a better place as he sees fit.

Ford hinted at the D23 convention in September that "Indiana Jones 5" will be his last as Indy. "This is it," the octogenarian deadpanned. "I will not fall down for you again." He appeared emotional when talking about the movie as saying, "I'm very proud to say that this one is fantastic, and this is one of the reasons," before pointing to Waller-Bridge.

"Indiana Jones movies are about mystery and adventure, but they're also about heart," the 80-year-old actor continued, "and I'm really, really happy that we have a really human story to tell, as well as a movie that will kick your ass."

Not only is "Indiana Jones 5" the last hurrah for Ford, but also 90-year-old composer John Williams, who confirmed the film would likely be his last. "At the moment I'm working on 'Indiana Jones 5', which Harrison Ford - who's quite a bit younger than I am - I think has announced will be his last film," Williams told the Associated Press in a June 2022 interview. "So, I thought: If Harrison can do it, then perhaps I can, also."

"Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" is set to open in U.S. theaters on June 30, 2023. Unlike the previous installments, Steven Spielberg is not directing and passed the duty to James Mangold, who also penned the script. Spielberg is still credited as executive producer along with George Lucas.
