The 'Super Freaky Girl' hitmaker is facing heavy criticism for appearing on the World Cup anthem as the sports event's host Qatar criminalizes same-sex sexual activity.

AceShowbiz - Nicki Minaj is ignoring the intense backlash she received on social media. The "Super Freaky Girl" hitmaker has confirmed that she will appear on the 2022 World Cup song despite criticism from her fans over the host Qatar's anti-LGBTQ+ stance.

The Young Money queen announced via Instagram that she will be appearing on the global record alongside Maluma and Myriam Fares. Her appearance marks the first female rapper to appear on a World Cup anthem.

"#MTVEMA's #BestHIPHOPArtist #BestSONG [Super Freaky Girl] Won 2 fan voted awards tonight. Thank you Barbz. I love you so much. Now who's READY for 11.18.22," she wrote on Instagram while teasing the track titled "Tukoh Taka". The song will be released on November 18.

Shortly after confirming her appearance on the song, the Barbz continued to remind Nicki about Qatar's anti-LGBTQ+ policies. "Hi @nickiminaj not sure if you're aware but your LGBTQ+ supporters from qatar are in danger and you're funding and standing by their disgusting views," one person wrote, "Qatar was voted as the one of the worst places in the world to be gay. homosexuality is illegal and punishable by imprisonment."

"For somebody with a very large LGBTQ fan base and with the threat by Qatar to effectively snuff out any presence of LGBTQ support, it's very disturbing to see Nicki Minaj sign on to do this," another fan stated. "Not all money is good money; especially when gay men are persecuted there!"

Someone else echoed a similar statement, "genuinely happy that Nicki is in the World Cup this year but like she needs to do her research about places like this because 60% of her supporters are LGBTQ. @NICKIMINAJ."

Others, in the meantime, defended Nicki. "Oh please. She's doing a song for fifa world cup. Nicki Minaj is not Qatar's saviour she's not Jesus take it up with y'all government," one person tweeted, with another adding, "She's doing a song for the World Cup not specifically for the country of Qatar." A third simply said, "I'm a Qatari barb and we are all excited for Nicki. We are not in danger."

The Qatar World Cup tournament kicks off on Sunday, November 20.
