The NBC Emmy-winning show receives numerous criticism after announcing that the comedian will host the November 12 episode despite his controversial remarks about trans community.

AceShowbiz - "Saturday Night Live" needs to reconsider its host, at least that's what critics say. The NBC Emmy-winning late-night comedy show is facing intense backlash for having Dave Chappelle as host following his controversial remarks about the trans community.

Over the weekend, the show announced its host through their social media accounts. "NOV 12. DAVE CHAPPELLE. BLACK STAR," the signature post-it announcement read. "next week!!!" read the caption of the post.

Shortly after the show made the announcement, numerous social media critics turned to social media to express their disappointment. Many pointed out that the production team should reconsider their decision regarding Dave's insensitive remarks about trans community in his 2021 Netflix comedy special "The Closer".

"Wait I thought I canceled him. Is it possible cancel culture isn't a real thing," tweeted former co-vice president of Netflix's transgender employee resource group Terra Field. Terra resigned from the streaming platform in November last year in protest over the comedy special and later led a walkout.

Another chimed in, "Having Dave Chappelle host SNL again is a slap in the face to trans people, including one of their own new cast members. What the hell Lorne [Lorne Michaels]?!" A separate person fumed, "lorne michaels i'm in ur walls…after the [Kanye West] s**t ur gonna have a known antisemite host…not only is he antisemtic he's INSANELY transphobic and YOU HAVE A NON-BINARY CAST MEMBER ??? THIS IS RIDICULOUS ???"

An "SNL" fan added, "I love SNL. I've been a fan all my life. But having Dave Chappelle on as host is not the move. You have your first non-binary cast member ever and then you book and proud and open transphobe. What a disappointment." Another loyal supporter echoed, "I'm a die hard SNL fan, but I'll be taking a hard pass on this one."

Released in October 2021, "The Closer" ignited social media backlash from LGBTQ+ community as many deemed Dave's remarks about trans people offensive. Netflix employees also staged a walkout in protest.

In the controversial special, Dave said, "Gender is a fact. Every human being in this room, every human being on earth, had to pass through the legs of a woman to be on earth. That is a fact." He went on to say, "Now, I am not saying that to say trans women aren't women, I am just saying that those p***ies that they got… you know what I mean? I'm not saying it's not p***y, but it's Beyond P***y or Impossible P***y. It tastes like p***y, but that's not quite what it is, is it? That's not blood. That's beet juice."
