AceShowbiz - More details about Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson's complicated relationship have found their way out online. According to a new report from Buzzfeed, the on-and-off couple got engaged in February 2021, a month before the NBA star impregnated Maralee Nichols.
The news outlet claimed that Tristan first proposed to "The Kardashians" star in December 2019 and "revisited the subject of an engagement" in February 2021. According to sources, the TV star said yes the second time around and the two allegedly decided to keep their engagement under wraps.
The report went on to state that Khloe threw her then-fiance a 30th birthday party in March on the same night he got Maralee pregnant. It was also said that Tristan found out he was the father of Maralee's baby in July 2021, but he kept the news from the Good American founder. Not stopping there, the Canadian athlete encouraged Khloe to keep forward with their surrogacy journey.
They pair were happily engaged for nine months until she called it off when it was revealed in December that Tristan faced a paternity lawsuit after fathering a baby with Maralee, who welcomed son Theo in the same month. Tristan then confirmed that he's the father of Theo following a paternity test.
"Khloe, you don't deserve this," he wrote in January. "You don't deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don't deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you."
The new report, however, contradicted Khloe's claims in the latest episode of "The Kardashians". In the Thursday, September 29 episode, Khloe revealed that she turned down Tristan after he proposed to her in December 2020. Explaining the reason why she turned down the proposal, Khloe shared in confessional, "I need to make sure this is a totally different relationship because I want to be proud to say I'm engaged to anyone. And that's why I said I'm not comfortable accepting this right now because I'm not excited to tell my family."
"As hurtful as that probably was for him to hear it was the truth. I'm not ever gonna accept something and give someone false hope," Khloe, who didn't tell anyone on her family about the proposal until sister Kim Kardashian confronted her, added.
Kim said that she only found out about the proposal when Tristan told her. "The fact that he proposed and you never told us, and I asked him months later," Kim said to Khloe during a conversation. The SKIMS founder continued, "I asked him months later, the night after I thought it happened, and he's like, 'Oh, I did it months ago. She didn't tell you guys?' "
Kim revealed in confessional that that the NBA free agent called her to share his Valentine's Day 2021 proposal plan. "Which was like a year since they had drama," the mom of four noted. "And then I called him the day after and I was like, 'Hey, I never heard anything from Khloe. Oh my god, did you propose?' And he was like, 'Oh yeah, I did in December.' "
Khloe has yet to comment on the report of her secret engagement to Tristan.
