A representative for Elizabeth Chambers says she texted Effie 'to determine the veracity of those allegations,' 'given the extent and nature of allegations that were made.'

AceShowbiz - Elizabeth Chambers has justified her messages to Armie Hammer rape accuser after Effie slammed the actress over her recent interview about the actor's alleged sexual misconducts. Through her representative, the TV presenter explains that she texted her estranged husband's alleged victim to "determine the veracity of those allegations" made against him.

"Given the extent and nature of allegations that were made, Elizabeth sought to determine the veracity of those allegations," said a spokesperson for Elizabeth to PEOPLE. "She was very sensitive to all parties involved. The safety and well-being of their children remains her priority."

Effie, the woman behind House of Effie Instagram account which first leveled the sexual misconduct claims against Armie, slammed Elizabeth following her interview with E! News about the "House of Hammer" docuseries. "It was obviously heartbreaking on so many levels and very painful. But at the same time, it exists," the 40-year-old mother of two said of the scandal. "The past is the past and all we can do is take this as a moment to learn and listen, and hopefully process and heal in every capacity."

Effie later exposed Elizabeth for allegedly plotting to get the full custody of her two children by pressuring Effie to press charges against Armie. On Wednesday, September 21, Effie unleashed via her Instagram Stories a series of screenshots of text messages purportedly sent by the "Criminal Minds" star to her.

In one message, Elizabeth allegedly wrote to Effie, "I'm obtaining a copy of the NDA he used and think there's an error in it, which would make it null and void. As soon as I confirm, can you post?" She also told Effie to "stay focused" on "getting the stories on record. Not just the internet."

After Elizabeth allegedly asked Effie if she had hired a lawyer, Effie replied, "I'm feeling a tad bit suicidal and don't have time for this [right now] sorry." Elizabeth told her, "I really need custody of my precious children."

Elizabeth appeared to pressure her as asking, "Do you think you could make a declaration this week? It will all be private..." In another message, Elizabeth allegedly wrote, "I don't want to pressure you, but your insight is much more in depth than the others we have."

Effie concluded her Instagram Stories by writing, "Just some things to keep in mind before anyone else keeps wishing rapists 'healing'."
