AceShowbiz - Joe Rogan isn't planning to leave the UFC world anytime soon, but he knows when he will. The UFC commentator revealed in a new episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" when he will quit his commentary role.
Joe noted that his UFC gig will depend on how long Dana White serves as UFC president. "If Dana leaves, I'm gone," Joe shared. "That's in my contract. What he does is very different."
The 55-year-old has been a fixture of the UFC's broadcast desk for 25 years. Considered one of the best commentators and analysts in mixed martial arts, he is also one of the longest-tentured employees in the UFC.
Fans previously thought that the former Taekwondo standout would opt to leave his UFC broadcasting gig entirely following his lucrative podcasting deal with Spotify. His popular podcast is also hugely popular as it's named the No. 1 podcast in the world, generating an average of 11 million viewers per episode.
Meghan Markle's new podcast "Archetypes", however, managed to dethrone "The Joe Rogan Experience" once. Following its first episode in August, the Duchess of Sussex's podcast took over the No. 1 spot on Spotify's podcast chart in not only the United States, but also Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
Until now, "The Joe Rogan Experience" has only been knocked out of the top spot a couple of times. Before Meghan's podcast edged out "The Joe Rogan Experience", gaming podcast "Banter with Sapnap and Karl Jacobs" led the chart back in September 2021. Later in May, an episode of the fiction series "Batman Unburied" reigned the chart.
"The Joe Rogan Experience", which was launched on YouTube in 2009, became an exclusive to the streaming service in May 2020. "Hello everybody! I have an announcement. The podcast is moving to Spotify. I signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Spotify that will start on September 1. Starting on September 1, the entire JRE library will be available on Spotify as well as all the other platform, then, somewhere around the end of the year, it will become exclusive to Spotify, including the video version of the podcast," Joe announced the move to Spotify in a statement released on his YouTube channel.
He continued, "It will be the exact same show. I am not going to be an employee of Spotify. We are going to be working with the same crew doing the exact same show, the only difference will be it will now be available on the largest audio platform in the world. Nothing else will change."
"It will be free. It will be free to you, you just have to go to Spotify to get it. We're very excited to begin this new chapter of the JRE and I hope you're there when we cross over. Thanks," he concluded.
