The 'Story of My Life' singer discusses the possibility for the group, which was originally made up of Louis, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, to get back together.

AceShowbiz - Louis Tomlinson weighed in on the possibility of a One Direction reunion. During a Thursday, September 8 appearance on U.K. TV show "Lorraine", the "Story of My Life" singer showed eagerness for the group to have a reunion one day.

In the episode, host Lorraine Kelly asked the singer about getting the band, which was originally made up of Louis, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, back together. "One day, there's a lot of moving parts but it would be a shame if we didn't," Louis responded, "I hope so."

Louis' remarks arrived weeks after Zayn sent Directioners into a frenzy after he uploaded a cover of the group's song. On August 15, the "Pillow Talk" crooner made use of his Instagram account to share a black-and-white clip of him sitting and singing an acapella version of One Direction's 2014 hit "Night Changes", which is now the boy band's No. 1 song on Spotify.

The 29-year-old singer, who left the group in 2015, didn't include a caption with the post. However, Zayn's fans were quick to respond to the video with excited messages. "Omg my ears are blessed," one fan wrote while another revealed that they were "crying." One other shared, "I'm singing right along with you" and a fourth asked if the song choice had a hidden meaning.

Announcing his departure from the group, which was formed on the British version of "The X Factor", Zayn shared at the time, "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologize to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart."

Following his exit, Zayn gave a brutally honest take on One Direction's music. "That's not music I would listen to," he shared in a 2015 interview with The FADER. "As much as I was in that band, and I loved everything that we did, that's not music that I would listen to."
