AceShowbiz - JoJo Siwa has set the record straight. After claiming that she didn't like the word "lesbian" despite identifying herself as one in a recent interview, the "So You Think You Can Dance" judge took to her TikTok account to clarify her remarks.

In the Saturday, July 30 video, JoJo responded to a comment which read, "that is not what happened, she called it a dirty word, she did nothing but insult us, my sexuality is not a dirty word." In response to it, the 19-year-old said, "Okay, I've been going through my comments, and I just want to make something super clear, I never said that lesbian was a dirty word, and I never ever would say that it's a dirty word because it is not."

The "Dance Moms" alum went on to explain, "It is not a bad word." She added, "It is not a slur, and it especially is not a word that I am ashamed of saying or ashamed of identifying as by any means."

"Now if you look at the comment that this is commented under -- if that makes sense -- it says 'I'm sorry that people are trying to cancel you for not liking the sound of the word.' And that's exactly it," the professional dancer continued. "I don't hate the word lesbian. I just, whenever somebody talks to me about my sexuality, I just say that that I'm gay. It's not a word that flows off the tongue for me if that makes sense."

Prior to this, JoJo discussed the word "lesbian" during an interview with Yahoo Life. "I don't like the word itself," the "Boomerang" singer said despite noting that she enjoys being celebrated as a gay icon and identifies as a lesbian. "It's just like a lot. But I mean, at the end of the day, that's what I am. ... It's like the word moist. It's just like ... ugh!"

Internet users apparently were offended by JoJo's comments as they quickly criticized her on social media. "Um in light of a recent [JoJo Siwa] interview, here's a quick reminder that lesbian isn't a bad or dirty word," one person wrote on Twitter. One other added, "[JoJo Siwa] comparing the word lesbian to the word moist.. lesbian is not a dirty word how many times do we have to say this."

"watching jojo siwa get lit up for the exact same thing i thought when i first accepted being gay after literal years of seeing people treat the word lesbian like it was the worst thing on earth," another comment read. Someone, meanwhile, wrote, "lesbian is not a dirty word and when u have people like girl in red or even jojo siwa who are considered 'gay icons' pushing that, it makes it sm worse. how do u expect lesbians to feel hearing these 'icons' literally hate the word lesbian??"
