A number of social media users applaud the 79-year-old TV personality over the comment she made when discussing congressional action on gun control legislation on 'The View'.

AceShowbiz - Joy Behar has gained praise over her recent comments on "The View". The TV personality has been applauded by many social media users after discussing congressional action on gun control legislation in the Wednesday, June 8 episode of the talk show.

Behar made the statement after guest host Lindsey Granger spoke about a Black man in Connecticut who reportedly built his own AR-15 assault-style rifle because state laws does not allow him to purchase one. Granger claimed it was "odd" that the man was Black, adding that "most AR-15 owners are former military, 35-plus and married."

In response, the 79-year-old stated, "Here's the thing: once Black people get guns in this country, the gun laws will change. Trust me." Her comment made Granger pause her argument, prompting co-host Whoopi Goldberg to interject and urge viewers to "get out and vote."

Behar has since become trending on Twitter. "Joy Behar is right and y'all know she is. If we, Black people, start walking around in public and open carry with AR-15's no matter where we live, it would change. Imagine 10 Black men [and] women shopping in Target, etc, carrying an AR-15. It's our constitutional right, too," one person wrote.

"SOMEBODY had to say it! If every Black man in the USA bought an assault rifle this week, a gun reform bill would be on Biden's desk to sign by Monday," another penned. An Instagram user, meanwhile, opined, "She told no damn lie here." Someone else chimed in, "She innocent. She told the truth. If Black people had guns the way everyone else does, the laws would be changed overnight. That's how this system works. Joy hit them with the truth and they can't take it!"

Still, some people chose to disagree. "Joy Behar's statement today about black people owning guns is a blatant example of racism," one individual argued, while journalist and commentator Tim Pool said echoed the sentiment, "Joy Behar is racist." iHeart Radio host Buck Sexton added, "Joy Behar is impressively stupid, it seems almost metaphysical to be so dumb, but here we are."
