In a new video, the founder of Kylie Cosmetics reveals that it 'feels right' to honor late designer Virgil Abloh by wearing Off-White's white bride-style gown for her Met comeback.

AceShowbiz - Kylie Jenner came close to missing out on 2022 Met Gala, but changed her mind with a good intention. On Wednesday, May 4, the founder of Kylie Cosmetics unveiled through a YouTube video the "only reason" behind her last minute decision to attend the major fashion fundraising event.

In the clip documenting her process in getting ready for the gala, the 24-year-old revealed that she wanted to honor Off-White late designer Virgil Abloh, who died in 2021 after a battle with cancer. "I was like, unless I can honor Virgil, and Shannon would want me to go, and I would wear Off-White, then that's the only reason I would go today, to honor him," she admitted.

"I feel like I was supposed to go with Off-White, because Virgil and I talked about this for the last two years," Kylie continued further. The younger sister of Kendall Jenner stated that she "was supposed to go with him" in 2020, but it did not end up happening because of COVID-19. In 2021, she was also unable to attend the fashion event because her 4-year-old daughter, Stormi, was unwell.

Elaborating further on her decision to wear Off-White's white bride-style gown, "The Kardashians" star added, "It feels right that for my Met comeback I'm going with Off-White." She then pointed out that she did not "care what people think" because the look was so "special" to her.

Kylie even got emotional when talking about the dress she chose for the 2022 gala. "It's very special. I've already cried a few times," she added, "I actually can't talk about it until the day's over, because I'm going to cry about it."

The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" alum also noted that the look was something totally new that she wanted to do. "I wanted to do something big this year," she divulged, "Every year I've basically worn some type of tight mermaid dress, so this year I wanted to wear something big, do something different."

Kylie's look was well-received by Virgil's wife, Shannon Abloh. The late designer's spouse expressed support to Kylie by sending flowers with a note on it. "You are going to be amazingly perfect tonight. He will be with you guiding you up the stairs. We all know he never missed a party," the note read.

Ahead of the YouTube video release, Kylie posted an Instagram picture of her in the Off-White dress. Next to the Tuesday, May 3 post was a caption honoring the designer. "Virgil and I were supposed to go to the Met together before it got postponed in 2020," she began her caption, "To celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me."

"I'm humbled to wear this dress and honor my talented beautiful friend," she added. "We felt you tonight Virgil and love you forever & thank u to the entire @off____white team !!"
