AceShowbiz - Jimmy Kimmel is another late-night show host to test positive for COVID-19. When announcing his diagnosis on social media, the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" host revealed that he will take a temporary absence from the show.
"Our daughter brought us covid (even though we specifically asked her not to)," the 54-year-old Emmy-winning funnyman quipped in a post shared on Twitter and Instagram on Monday, May 2. "All feeling fine, I am double vaxxed and boosted but the show must not go on.
Jimmy went on to issue an apology to guests of the Tuesday episode, Tom Cruise and Iliza Shlesinger. "Apologies to @TomCruise & @iliza and thanks to Mike Birbiglia @birbigs who'll be filling in for me starting tomorrow night," he penned.
Following the announcement, Mike took to Twitter to tease his upcoming hosting gig. "I must be the first person to ever deplane a Southwest Airlines flight and find out they're guest-hosting a late night talk show," he jokingly wrote. "Sending love to the Kimmels. See you on the TV tomorrow, friends."
Just a week prior, Stephen Colbert announced that he also contracted the coronavirus, prompting him to postpone "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" for a week. "Yep! I tested positive for Covid," the 57-year-old comedian tweeted on April 21. He went on to assure his fans and followers that "basically [he is] feeling fine- grateful to be vaxxed and boosted."
Elsewhere in his social media post, Stephen jokingly said that "this just proves that I will do anything to avoid interviewing Jason Bateman." He also expressed his gratitude to those who've been wishing for him to have a speedy recovery. "Thank you for the well wishes," he simply said.
