The English actor, who is best known for playing the secret agent James Bond in the eponymous film series, was forced to cancel his Saturday, April 2 performances after contracting the virus.

AceShowbiz - Daniel Craig is another celebrity to test positive for COVID-19. Upon learning of his diagnosis, the actor known for playing the secret agent James Bond in the eponymous film series was forced to cancel his "Macbeth" performances on Broadway.

Daniel's COVID positive result was announced on the production's Twitter account. "Today's matinee and evening performance of MACBETH are cancelled due to Daniel Craig just testing positive for COVID this afternoon," so read the statement shared on Saturday, April 2.

"We apologize for the inconvenience this causes ticket holders, but the safety of our audiences, the cast and crew remains our top priority," it further read. "All tickets for the cancelled performance will be refunded at the original point of purchase."

Daniel is not the only one who has contracted the coronavirus. Hours after the initial announcement, the production revealed, "Performances of MACBETH on Broadway are being cancelled through Thursday, April 7th due to the detection of a limited number of positive covid test results within the company."

Daniel has been starring opposite Oscar-nominee Ruth Negga in the 15-week limited engagement at the Longacre Theater, which is directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold. The cast also consists of Asia Kate Dillon, Maria Dizzia and Phillip James Brannon among others.

The English actor returned to Broadway after he has completed his final 007 movie, "No Time to Die". Speaking about his decision on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", the husband of Rachel Weisz shared, "There's so many industries have had such a terrible time, but especially the entertainment industry, especially Broadway."

"I'm part of the theater community in this town and very proudly part of it," Daniel further told host Stephen Colbert. "I want to be part of that and trying to help Broadway get back on its feet again."
