Before being hospitalized for 'psychiatric issues,' the daytime diva reportedly sexually touched herself after getting drunk while filming 'The Wendy Williams Show' from home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

AceShowbiz - Wendy Williams seemingly had hit a rough spot with her addiction issues. Before being hospitalized for "psychiatric issues," the daytime diva allegedly became inebriated and stripped naked while she was filming "The Wendy Williams Show" from her home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sources spilled to The Sun on Wednesday, January 12 that back in May 2020, the 57-year-old TV personality was forced to bring her talk show tapings inside her $4.5 million New York City penthouse apartment in an effort to keep her daily program on the air amid the lockdown. At the time, her manager was summoned to her place after she had appeared unwell during a Zoom show taping earlier in the week.

Her manager and a small group of confidants arrived at Wendy's home to lend support to the struggling talk show queen, who allegedly had been drinking heavily since her time at a Queens, New York sober house following the split from her husband Kevin Hunter in 2019. When entering her room, it's reported that she had stripped naked and was sexually touching herself while shouting vulgar comments.

The eyewitnesses looked on in horror and immediately called healthcare workers. After medical personnel arrived at the home, Wendy allegedly grew more aggressive. The TV personality was eventually taken to the hospital, where she ended up remaining for weeks. Shortly afterwards, the show announced that the host would be taking a hiatus from the program to battle symptoms of Graves' disease.

Prior to the incident, Wendy's fans were concerned about her mental health as they believed she was acting "erratic" while hosting her show. At the time, fans noticed that Wendy frequently appeared on TV dressed only in a robe. Fans became more worried as Wendy sobbed uncontrollably on more than one occasion.

Then in September 2021, Wendy was rushed to hospital for "psychiatric services." Since then, her hiatus from her iconic purple chair has continued. However, recently, she appeared to be in a good condition in a video shared by her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., on Instagram. In a boomerang posted on his Story, she could be seen sitting in a bed while sipping what appeared to be a glass of fresh-pressed juice with a plate full of healthy salad on her lap.

Kevin's social media post arrived after Wendy's brother Tommy Williams offered an update on Wendy's health. In late December, Tommy said that Wendy was already "doing well" and no longer in Florida. He also denied reports saying that his sibling was "lonely" during the Christmas holiday.

Tommy went on saying that like Wendy's fans, he missed "Wendy on TV." He also noted that he's fully confident "she's not finished." He continued, "I'm on the outside looking in just like you all. She's not gone folks, she is just recalibration go. If Wendy weren't doing well, I wouldn't be sitting here smiling."

That same month, Wendy was reportedly ready to make a "big comeback" to her show. "If anybody thinks Wendy is done with television and show business in general, they're sadly mistaken," a source claimed. "Wendy has been in this industry almost her entire life and she's definitely preparing to make a big comeback."
