Aariel Maynor has been charged with murder, attempted murder, felon with a firearm and two counts of residential burglary with a person present after breaking into her and her husband Clarence Avant's Beverly Hills estate.

AceShowbiz - The suspect in the shooting death Clarence Avant's wife Jacqueline Avant has been charged with murder. A man named Aariel Maynor was charged four days after he was arrested during another burglary in Beverly Hills.

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon announced on Monday, December 6 that the 29-year-old man was also charged with attempted murder for allegedly firing at a security guard, who was unhurt. He also faced charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of residential burglary.

"Mrs. Avant was a treasured member of our community. Her generosity and good will touched so many lives," George stated. Aariel is due to make his first court appearance on Tuesday, December 7 at the Airport Branch courthouse in Los Angeles County.

Aariel was arrested on Thursday, December 2 around 3:30 A.M. after police officers responded to a burglary call, during which the suspect allegedly shot himself in the foot by accident. He was taken into jail after he's medically cleared by doctors.

Following his arrest, the authorities found an AR-15 style weapon that allegedly tied Aariel to Jacqueline's killing. There were also surveillance videos saw his vehicle leaving Beverly Hills after the murder, which happened on December 1.

"To the Beverly Hills Community, let me reassure you, this is one of the most protected and patrolled cities in the world," Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook said in the release after the arrest. "Crime of any kind will not be tolerated here. Let this be a message to anyone thinking of committing a crime in Beverly Hills -- you will be caught and brought to justice."

Mark went on to say, "At this time, we're only looking at him as a suspect, but again, there's a lot of evidence to go through, so we're leaving open the possibility there could be other people involved." Mark also suggested that Clarence and Jacqueline might have been deliberately targeted, rather than the victim of thieves just looking to rip off the rich and famous as saying, "Obviously, someone went into the home, we just don't know what the purpose was."

Mark continued, "A lot of times people think home invasion when it comes to robbing or burglarizing a residence." He elaborated, "I think there are a lot of nuances to the term home invasion," before concluding, "I don't think it's a random attack, but I can't speculate on that right now."
