Aariel Maynor is arrested after he shot himself in the foot by accident during a different burglary and he's found with an AR-15 style weapon that allegedly tied him to Jacqueline Avant's killing.

AceShowbiz - A suspect has been arrested in Jacqueline Avant's murder, just one day after the wife of music icon Clarence Avant was tragically killed during a home invasion. A man named Aariel Maynor was booked during another burglary in Beverly Hills.

According to Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook, Aariel was arrested on Thursday, December 2 around 3:30 A.M. after the cops responded to a burglary call, during which the suspect allegedly shot himself in the foot by accident. The police chief also stated that the 29-year-old man was the suspect in that burglary.

Aariel will be taken into jail when medically cleared by doctors, adding that there's no further threat to the public. Aariel has not yet been charged and it was not immediately clear if he has retained an attorney.

Prior to that, multiple surveillance videos showed Aariel's vehicle leaving Beverly Hills after Jacqueline's murder. According to the police, unspecified evidence connected him to Jacqueline's homicide.

Mark stated that Aariel has a lengthy criminal history and was on parole. Aariel was found with an AR-15 style weapon that allegedly tied him to Jacqueline's killing. "To the Beverly Hills Community, let me reassure you, this is one of the most protected and patrolled cities in the world," the police chief said in the release. "Crime of any kind will not be tolerated here. Let this be a message to anyone thinking of committing a crime in Beverly Hills -- you will be caught and brought to justice."

"At this time, we're only looking at him as a suspect, but again, there's a lot of evidence to go through, so we're leaving open the possibility there could be other people involved," Mark added. Mark also suggested the couple might have been deliberately targeted, rather than the victim of thieves just looking to rip off the rich and famous as saying, "Obviously, someone went into the home, we just don't know what the purpose was."

Mark continued, "A lot of times people think home invasion when it comes to robbing or burglarizing a residence." He concluded, "I think there are a lot of nuances to the term home invasion," before pointing out, "I don't think it's a random attack, but I can't speculate on that right now."

On Wednesday, December 1, the authorities received a phone call at 2:23 A.M. regarding a shooting that took place at Clarence and Jacqueline's home on the 1100 block of Maytor Place. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found Jacqueline with a gunshot wound but the suspect was no longer at the scene. The 81-year-old then was transported to a local hospital but she didn't survive. No one else was injured.
