'RuPaul's Drag Race' Will Feature First Straight, Cis Male Contestant in Season 14

Maddy Morphosis, who hails from Fayetteville, Arkansas, is the first male contestant on the popular, award-winning franchise that identifies himself as straight.

AceShowbiz - Season 14 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" will bring viewers something new. For the first time in the popular show's history, a heterosexual, cisgender male contestant will be competing alongside other queens for the $100,000 grand prize.

Maddy Morphosis, who hails from Fayetteville, Arkansas. is the first male contestant that identifies himself as straight. Announcing his casting, Maddy wrote on Instagram over the weekend, "The game is on! And I'm excited to officially announce that I'm a contestant on season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race! The game will NEVER be the same! #DragRace Season 14 sashays onto @VH1 – FRIDAY JAN 7 at 8/7c! Stay tuned to @rupaulsdragrace YouTube tomorrow for the FULL runway and Meet the Queens!"

Also competing in the upcoming season are Alyssa Hunter, Angeria Paris VanMicheals, Bosco, Daya Betty, Deja Skye, Jasmine Kennedie, Jorgeous, June Jambalaya, Kerri Colby, Kornbread Jete a.k.a. The Snack, Lady Camden, Orion Story and Willow Pill.

Alyssa and Angeria are known as an accomplished pageant queen, while Bosco is a Seattle queen with a knack for prosthetic makeup. Deja is proud of her great lip-synch skills, with Daya being proud of her six-foot-four tall.

As for Jasmine, she's known for her dancing skills and upbeat personality. Also calling herself a dancing diva in the new season are Jorgeous and June. Season 14 also has two trans women, Kerri and The Snack. Lady Camden is a trained ballet dancer, Orion is the first queen to represent Michigan on "Drag Race", and Willow is the drag sister of Season 11 winner Yvie Oddly.

Prior to this, the U.K. version of "RuPaul's Drag Race" included the franchise's first cisgender woman, Victoria Scone. However, she identified herself as lesbian. The move seemingly is in response to criticism of its lack of diversity on the award-winning show. The franchise has also included trans performers such as Peppermint in season 9, Gottmik in season 13 as well as Kylie Sonique Love, who came out as the winner in "All Stars" season 6.

Season 14 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" is set to premiere on WOW Presents Plus on January 8, 2022.
