After the 'Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson' was released, the 'Can't Stop the Feeling' crooner is called out by social media critic for 'capitalizing' Michael Jackson's sister's misfortune.

AceShowbiz - Justin Timberlake has found himself under fire again after Janet Jackson's documentary "Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson" was premiered. The "Can't Stop the Feeling" crooner faced backlash following the release of the docuseries that reexamined what went wrong during the infamous 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show scandal.

The series was released on Friday, November 19 on Hulu and FX. The documentary covered the mistreatment the sister of Michael Jackson received after the scandal and how Justin walked away from the controversy seemingly unscathed.

After the documentary premiered, many social media critics poured their thoughts online. "This is why I have never f**ked with Justin Timberlake. He's a culture vulture and left my good sis Janet out on a limb. So happy Ms. Jackson's truth will finally be told #JusticeForJanet," wrote one Twitter user.

"Love that the common denominator in both the Janet and Britney NYT docs is Justin in the background being a lecher," another chimed in. A separate critic said that Justin "capitalized Janet Jackson's misfortune."

In the film, Salli Frattini, a senior vice president for MTV who worked on the planning for the halftime show, said that Janet "never said anything" to her team about the mishap. Instead, she said that the 55-year-old songstress left shortly after the performance.

"Here we are trying to ask the person that this has happened to because this happened to her, and she was gone," Salli shared. "Then we sought out Justin. We pulled him aside one to one. He was like, 'That was never meant to happen.' I was told you guys knew. He was very apologetic. He manned up." Another person interviewed for the docuseries claimed Janet looked "distraught" immediately after the performance.

The film also touched on previous reports that Janet's stylist may have gone shopping at the last minute to change her wardrobe for the performance before the big day. "What's been reported is that after the rehearsal for the halftime show the next day, he went out shopping on his own and reporting shows he spent a lot of time at a local tailor, and we don't know what it was that was being worked on there but clearly some of the wardrobes was [sic] being adjusted," one contributor said.

According to Salli, Justin, who had apologized for failing Janet in his treatment in the past, met with Janet and her stylist prior to the two going on stage. Salli said, "I remember speaking with him, 'Are you all set? Do you have any questions?' There was a quest for him to speak to Janet, her stylist."

"We as the producers, we weren't in the room. Nobody was in the room. There was a small conversation that lasted minutes in her dressing room," Salli recalled. "Justin came out, everyone went off to get in their ready, start positions."

The film didn't end with any responses from those at the center of the controversy, including Janet, Justin and Les Moonves, the former CBS chairman and CEO. However, Janet is expected to tell her story in another documentary scheduled to be released in January 2022 by A&E and Lifetime titled "JANET".
