When talking about her new lease of life as a comedian, the former 'Desperate Housewives' star looks back at the time when she first told the 'Ted Lasso' actor about her 'average vagina' story.

AceShowbiz - Teri Hatcher has "Ted Lasso" star Brett Goldstein to thank for her new lease of life as a comedian, because he liked her "average vagina" story.

The "Desperate Housewives" star met Brett at a party while she was shooting competition show "The Great British Bake Off" in England in 2018, and shared all about a recent trip to the gynaecologist with him.

Goldstein found Teri so delightfully funny, he offered to help her turn her story into a comedy bit and encouraged the actress to get up on stage.

"Lord knows why I started puking this out to a complete and utter stranger, but I started telling him this story..., which ended in the gynaecologist telling me, 'Teri, you have a totally average vagina!' " the actress laughs.

"He [Goldstein] was like, That's a one woman show - Teri Hatcher: Average Vagina - and we started hanging out and he started helping me write. He was so generous... He's a brilliant writer."

Nothing came of the idea immediately, but then a year later, Teri was asked to be part of a charity comedy show and thought she could try out a 15 minute routine based on the work she had done with the "Ted Lasso" star.

"It was the last thing I did before COVID, in front of about 300 people, and there was a section of it - about six minutes - that was really kind of good," Hatcher tells Access Daily, explaining bosses at cable channel Showtime saw video of her performance and reached out about a new comedy project.

"They had this show, 'Funny Women of a Certain Age'..., and I was honored that they included me and invited me to do it."
