The South Korean popular drama series is confirmed to return for a sophomore installment after creator Hwang Dong-hyuk announces the second season is in the works.

AceShowbiz - Hit Netflix series "Squid Game" has been renewed for a second season.
At a Hollywood screening on Monday (08Nov21), the South Korean drama's director, creator and writer Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed the return of Netflix's most-watched show of all time.
"So there's been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season," he told the Associated Press.
"So I almost feel like you leave us no choice! But I will say, there will indeed be a second season. It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently. But I do think it's too early to say when and how it's going to happen. So I will promise you this... Gi-Hun (character) will come back, he'll do something for the world."
The first season follows 456 desperate contestants, including Gi-Hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, and Park Hae-soo's Cho Sang-woo, as they compete in a mysterious and deadly survival game involving multiple rounds of childhood games for 45.6 billion won (South Korean currency) in prize money.
Amid its popularity, "Squid Game" also received criticisms.
In Bedfordshire, England, the show was labeled dangerous by the council. They're afraid children as young as six would emulate dangerous stunts featured on the show.
"We strongly advise that children should not watch Squid Game. The show is quite graphic with a lot of violent content."
Meanwhile, South Korea's neighboring country North Korea said the show was a reflection of South Korean society where "corruption and immoral scoundrels are commonplace."
