The 'Pose' actor sets the record straight on his criticism regarding Harry Style's Vogue cover, insisting he never meant to diss the 'Watermelon Sugar' hitmaker.

AceShowbiz - "Pose" star Billy Porter has apologised after slamming Harry Styles for wearing a dress on the December, 2020 cover of Vogue.
Last month (Oct21), Porter blasted editors at the fashion bible for choosing to highlight "a straight white man" in a frock instead of someone like him, an out, gay black man who is known for his gender-bending fashion and red carpet gowns.
Now Billy insists he didn't mean to diss Harry personally and is eager to express his admiration for the former One Direction hitmaker.
"So, the first thing I want to say is, Harry Styles, I apologise to you for having your name in my mouth, it's not about you, the conversation is not about you," he told U.S. late night host Stephen Colbert on Thursday (04Nov21) night.
"The conversation is actually deeper than that. It is about the systems of oppression and erasure of people of colour who contribute to the culture. Now, that's a lot to unpack, I'm willing to unpack it, sans the dragging and cancel culture of the Internet, because I do not now, nor will I ever, adjudicate my life - or humanity - in sound bites on social media," Billy explained.
"So when you're ready to have the real conversation, call a b**ch, OK? I'm ready to have it. And I'm sorry, Harry! I didn't mean no harm. I'm a gay man, we like Harry! He's cute!"
The Emmy and Tony-winning actor also noted he didn't expect his comments to attract quite so much attention, telling Colbert, "I am surprised, because there are so many other things that are important on this earth to be talking about. It's just weird... Apparently, I'm famous now. And it was a slow news day."
