When speaking about cancel culture in a new interview, the actress daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson says she does 'believe that people can change.'

AceShowbiz - Dakota Johnson showed support for Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer and Shia LaBeouf amid their controversies. Believing that her three co-stars "can change" despite abuse allegations leveled against them, the "Fifty Shades of Grey" actress said she's "sad" that the three actors become the victims of cancel culture.

The 32-year-old beauty offered her two cents when sitting down with The Hollywood Reporter. "I never experienced that firsthand from any of those people," she said. "I had an incredible time working with them; I feel sad for the loss of great artists. I feel sad for people needing help and perhaps not getting it in time. I feel sad for anyone who was harmed or hurt. It's just really sad."

"I do believe that people can change. I want to believe in the power of a human being to change and evolve and get help and help other people," the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson added. "I think there's definitely a major overcorrection happening. But I do believe that there's a way for the pendulum to find the middle. The way that studios have been run up until now, and still now, is behind."

"It is such an antiquated mindset of what movies should be made, who should be in them, how much people should get paid, what equality and diversity look like," the Austin native concluded. "Sometimes the old school needs to be moved out for the new school to come in. But, yeah, cancel culture is such a f**king downer. I hate that term."

Dakota appeared alongside Johnny in 2015's "Black Mass". Meanwhile, she starred opposite Shia in the 2019 movie "The Peanut Butter Falcon". She worked together with Armie in his breakout film "The Social Network" back in 2010 and "Wounds" in 2019.

Johnny has been accused of verbal and physical abuse by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. As for Shia, he is being sued by his ex-girlfriend, FKA twigs, for abuse and sexual battery. Armie, on the other hand, has been accused of rape and emotional abuse by an alleged former partner.
