The rock band's co-founder and bassist shares his thought on the canceled shows before frontman Vince Neil fell off a stage in Tennessee and broke some of his ribs.

AceShowbiz - Rocker Nikki Sixx is convinced Motley Crue did the right thing in canceling their Stadium Tour in 2021, insisting the risk of concertgoers getting COVID was just too high.

The "Dr. Feelgood" hitmakers announced they were postponing shows they set up with Def Leppard and Poison, which had already been bumped from 2020 due to the pandemic.

"We didn't want to go out this past summer because we didn't want to expose our fans to possibly getting COVID, and 80,000 people all with their mouths open singing Shout at the Devil doesn't sound like we would be doing the right thing for our fans and our crew," Nikki told USA Today.

"Do I believe COVID will still be here next year? Yes. But we'll have to do the best that we can do... Right now, our eyes are on the tour starting in June, band rehearsals in May and all the set design starting months before that."

The interview was conducted before Vince Neil fell off a stage in Tennessee last week (ends October 15), breaking some of his ribs, but the singer should have time to heal before he and his Motley Crue bandmates hit the road again next June.

Nikki, now 62, admitted he's not in the same shape he was at age 22 and he'll start training for next summer's shows in the first week of December.

Prior to this, Nikki got candid about his dysfunctional childhood on his new book "The First 21: How I Became Nikki Sixx". In the book, the musician shared that he was growing up with an absentee mother. He also wrote about how his youth was spent with his grandparents on a farm in Idaho.
