The 'All the Way Up' rapper makes the comparison between the 'Rockstar' rapper and the rap legend when sitting down with Big Tigger on BET's 'Rap City' special, 'Rap City '21'.

AceShowbiz - Fat Joe has set the record straight. Having been dragged by Internet users for calling DaBaby the 2021 version of late Tupac Shakur, the "All the Way Up" rapper explained the reason behind it.

The 51-year-old offered his two cents during an Instagram Live on Wednesday, October 13. "Who's the new Tupac? don't know... He was the realist rapper ever," he elaborated. "Now when I think of Pac... I'm thinking DaBaby a real one... whether you like it or don't like it."

"I believe he lives what he raps. And that's very much like Tupac," the Bronx native, real name Joseph Antonio Cartagena, further stressed. "But... Is he is Tupac Shakur? No! No one will ever be Tupac Shakur."

Fat Joe made the comparison when appearing on BET's "Rap City" special, "Rap City '21". At that time, he took part in a game where he was asked to name the 2021 version of some influential rappers, including Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, E-40 and more.

When host Big Tigger dropped Tupac's name, Fat Joe chose DaBaby. It prompted Twitter users to put him on blast with one saying, "Fat Joe should never speak on Pac name EVER AGAIN." Another wondered, "Is Fat Joe okay? Did he have a recent fall down the stairs? I'm concerned."

A third penned, "I wanna know how important fat joe think he is to the music industry cause I don't think he knows nobody gives af bout he gotta saying in the big year of 2021." Someone else argued, "I wish people would stop comparing rappers to Tupac. None of these dudes are like Tupac, certainly not DaBaby."

As for DaBaby, he already responded to Fat Joe's compliment on Instagram. "Agreed," the "Rockstar" hitmaker wrote on Instagram with a thumbtack emoji. "But they gone salt that down to Crack [quiet emoji]."
