In a new interview, the guitarist says that he once was 'ready to fall into bed' with everyone regardless of their gender when the band was at the height of fame.

AceShowbiz - Pete Townshend has revealed that he was once pansexual. When opening up about his past gender identity, The Who's guitarist admitted that he was "ready to fall into bed with anyone."

Speaking to Rock Cellar Magazine, the 76-year-old musician addressed his sexuality back when the rock band was at the height of its fame. He told the publication, "With 'I'm A Boy' [1966 single] it's the idea of masculinity and the way that men are seen to be at a time when I often forget, to be homosexual, to be pansexual, as I think I probably was, but not anymore."

Despite not being pansexual anymore, the star said that at one point he would have slept with anyone, regardless of gender. "But I think I was ready to fall into bed with anybody that would have me," Pete continued. The "My Generation" hitmaker added, "I think I forget that homosexuality was still illegal, so these adventures had to be couched in vignettes of humor and irony."

Elsewhere in the interview, the rocker revealed the band's song "Pictures of Lily", which was released in 1967, was actually about pornography. He admitted that looking at porn was "un-masculine," before adding, "It's a sign of weakness."

Pete's revelation came after he shared that he wished to get back into the studio with The Who after the COVID-19 pandemic eased. In February, he told Uncut magazine that he had written "pages and pages" of draft lyrics. He also spilled that he has been working on new music and "wants to make another" record. "If the moment comes, I'll go in and start," the "Pinball Wizard" hitmaker told the publication.

Back in November 2019, Pete got candid about his and his bandmates' behavior during their heyday. Opening up to The Big Issue, the rocker reflected, "I was always pretty snobby about rock and roll." He then recalled a moment when he and late drummer Keith Moon used to throw televisions out of hotel windows, saying, "As the television went through the window, I would look at Keith Moon and go, 'What a f**king prat. What a waste of time.' Then, two or three times I did the same thing and I would think, 'What a f**king prat.' ''
