AceShowbiz - The 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards has crowned the singers who are dearest to young fans' hearts. At the ceremony which took place on Thursday, May 27, The Weeknd came home as the biggest winner, repeating his victorious night at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards which was held a few days ago on Sunday, May 23.

Leading with eight nominations, the Canadian artist, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, nabbed five prizes. He was named Male Artist of the Year and won Song of the Year, thanks to "Blinding Lights". The 31-year-old was also hailed as Titanium Artist of the Year, while his 2019 hit "Blinding Lights" was chosen as TikTok Bop of the Year and Titanium Song of the Year.

The Weeknd, who came in person to receive the awards, also kicked off the show with a performance of "Save Your Tears" (remix), joined by his collaborator Ariana Grande.

Also leading in terms of number were Roddy Ricch, BTS and Christian Nodal with three awards each. The rapper bagged Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Hip-Hop Album of the Year for his set "My Turn" and Hip-Hop Song of the Year for his single "The Box".

As for BTS, the South Korean boy group snagged Best Fan Army, Best Music Video for the visuals of their international hit "Dynamite" as well Favorite Music Video Choreography. Christian Nodal, meanwhile, soared in Latin categories after winning Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, Regional Mexican Album of the Year with "AYAYAY!" as well as Regional Mexican Song of the Year with "Se Me Olvido".

Another coveted prize, Female Artist of the Year, landed to Dua Lipa. Taylor Swift grabbed Best Pop Album for her surprise set "Folklore". Filming an acceptance from home, "The One" songstress acknowledged that the album came out amid a time when "we all needed to escape into stories," and thanked fans for choosing to escape through her album. "You really wrapped your arms around it," Swift said.

Doja Cat was named Best New Pop Artist, while Best Duo/Group of the Year went to Dan + Shay. Megan Thee Stallion, who attended the show with her boyfriend Pardison, won Best Collaboration for her "Savage" (Remix) which features Beyonce Knowles. The show also saw Elton John being honored with the Icon Award presented by Coldplay's Chris Martin and Lil Nas X.

This year's iHeartRadio Music Awards was hosted by Usher, who noted in his opening statement, "It's been a crazy year but we're going to get this right," as those in attendance were wearing masks. He also celebrated that "live music is back."
