AceShowbiz - Jay-Z has called Minnesota Governor Tim Walz demanding justice for the death of George Floyd.
The African-American was killed by a Minneapolis police officer, who kneeled on his neck during an arrest on Monday, May 25, 2020.
The incident, during which Floyd repeatedly told the cop he was struggling to breathe, was caught on camera and the footage led to violent clashes between cops and Black Lives Matter protesters this week.
The arresting officers have all been dismissed from the force and Derek Chauvin, who kneeled on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter on Friday.
During a press conference on Sunday, May 31, 2020, the Minnesota Governor revealed he had received a phone call from rap mogul Jay-Z, who told him, "Justice needs to be served here."
"I received a call last night - to understand how big this was - from Jay-Z," Walz told the media. "Not international performer but a dad stressing to me that justice needs to be served. It was so incredibly human..."
"He knows the world is watching, and how Minnesota handles this is going to have an impact across the country. It's a positive sign that someone of a stature, that has a presence like that, is focused in the moment of what Minnesotans are focused on."
On Saturday, the rapper's wife, Beyonce, posted a video on Instagram also demanding that justice be served in the killing of Floyd.
Walz has made it clear he considers Floyd's death a "murder" and he has urged Minneapolis authorities to file charges against the other three officers who stood and watched the victim of America's latest police brutality horror die.
