The 'Thor: Ragnarok' actor, who along with his wife has recovered from COVID-19, admits that the situation now is 'definitely scary and unsettling,' but also sees it as 'a real collected world experience.'

AceShowbiz - Idris Elba has already thought about what should be done when the coronavirus pandemic has been resolved. As he and his wife continue their journey to recovery after testing positive for COVID-19, the "Luther" star suggested that people should commemorate the crisis by conducting annual quarantine.
As U.N. Goodwill Ambassadors, the 47-year-old shared his thought on the matter in an interview with The Associated Press. "You know, everyone's sort of feeling the way we have been feeling, but it has definitely been sort of just a complete upheaval," he said. "I think that the world should take a week of quarantine every year just to remember this time. Remember each other. I really do."
During the chat, the "Avengers: Infinity War" actor also shared his and his wife's experience fighting the novel virus. "It's been about six weeks from the beginning to this point right now for us, where it's essentially our lives turned around," he said. "Definitely scary and unsettling and nervous." He went on to add this pandemic served as a reminder that "the world doesn't tick on your time."
On the occasion, Idris brought the attention to U.N.'s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) which focuses on farmers and food producers in rural areas. He expressed his belief that people in rural and poor areas are likely to be heavily impacted by the pandemic.
"If you imagine being in a village where no one even knows the name of your village or your population, and that you live in a slum where there is one room and six of you live in it," the Hollywood actor pointed out, "social distancing is almost laughable."
Idris' wife Sabrina sounded off similar sentiment, reminding others that "80 percent of the poor population live in these rural areas." She added, "What we are really worried about at the moment, and why we are launching this fund is that those people are being forgotten."
Upon its launch, IFAD itself has pledged $40 million in support of farmers and rural communities so that they can continue growing and selling food. Its goal is to raise at least $200 million from governments, foundations and the private sector worldwide.
