AceShowbiz - Lou Reed and Marianne Faithfull producer Hal Willner has died, aged 64.
The Pennsylvania native passed away on Monday, April 06, with unconfirmed reports suggesting he was suffering from symptoms consistent with the coronavirus in the days before his death.
He made his mark as a producer in 1980, with an album of jazz covers featuring Blondie singer Debbie Harry and Wynton Marsalis, and went on to produce tribute projects to Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, and the music from Disney films, recruiting stars like Keith Richards and Sting.
Willner was also responsible for the music for skits on "Saturday Night Live, and he also produced or co-produced albums by Lou Reed and Marianne Faithfull - he oversaw production on a box set of Reed's solo albums released after the The Velvet Underground star's death.
One of his final productions was a tribute album to Marc Bolan and T. Rex, which featured Ke$ha, Lucinda Williams, and Joan Jett.
