The former Olympic gymnast opens up about how hard it is to make 'so many adjustments' in her relationship with husband Andrew East after their baby's birth, admitting she's sometimes 'jealous' of her daughter Drew.

AceShowbiz - Shawn Johnson finds it hard to being a married couple with her husband after the birth of their first child together. Four months after welcoming daughter Drew Hazel, the former Olympic gymnast opened up about how hard it is for her to take "a back seat" in her marriage to Andrew East.

Talking about her struggles in a joint interview, the 28-year-old told HollywoodLife, "You have to learn how to take a back seat to someone else with your significant other." She went on to explain, "It's weird, because you love that third person more than anything in the world, but it's this like, 'I'm jealous, but I also love it, but I also want my husband.' It's just, it's hard."

Andrew agreed with Shawn as he candidly spilled, "The biggest surprise I think has been how difficult it's been for us as a married couple, just because there's so many adjustments that you have to figure out how to deal with." The former Washington Redskins long snapper added, "I feel like we're maybe just out of the woods with it three months in."

In an attempt to maintain a healthy romantic relationship, the couple claimed to having a date every Thursday night. "My mom and dad come over, they watched Drew for at least five hours and we go out and have a good dinner, or go watch a movie," Shawn shared. "But we've done it every single week. So at least every week since we've had her, we know that we have one night together where it's just mom and dad!"

She continued, "There's definitely some of those date nights where we're sitting there in silence just enjoying the peace and quiet! But yeah, that's been really important for us to continue to build our relationship after welcoming Drew."

Days earlier, Shawn took to her Instagram account to share with their followers about one of their outings. "Mom and Dad #datenight," she gushed alongside a photo of her and Andrew. Still, she was quick to remind people that she didn't forget her role as a mother. "Don't worry we will still be back home and in bed by 8:30," she noted.
