1. '90 Day Fiance': Larissa Dos Santos Lima and Colt Johnson's Drama

Larissa Dos Santos Lima and Colt Johnson's love journey on "90 Day Fiance" is definitely one thing that most people talked about this year. Their romance might be short-term, but the drama they went through was enough to make them be included in the list of the biggest headline makers in 2019.

The pair got engaged five days after they met in person in Mexico and then tied the knot in June 2018. It didn't take long before there was trouble in paradise as Larissa was arrested in Clark County, Nevada earlier this year for allegedly attacking Colt, who suffered injuries including a swollen lip in addition to blooded gums and teeth due to the attack. That was the third time for Larissa to be arrested for domestic violence. The first time was in June 2018, just days before their wedding, and the second time was in November of the same year, though charges in both cases were dismissed.

The attack was seemingly the last straw for Colt as he announced in January he had filed for divorce from Larissa and attempted to cancel the Brazilian beauty's green card application. Ahead of his bachelor party in March to celebrate his divorce, Colt shared that he "ultimately doesn't care" if Larissa would be deported from the U.S. "I don't want to be responsible for her for any amount of time. So that is my objective now," he claimed at the time.

Following the failed marriage to Colt, Larissa found love in Eric Nichols though their romance didn't last long. The couple decided to call it quits in September, only eight months after they started dating. While Larissa claimed their split was amicable, Eric said that the breakup wasn't mutual. Their split wasn't free of drama either as Larissa filed a police report against Eric claiming he's harassing her. The case is currently under investigation.

2. 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills': Lisa Vanderpump's Controversial Puppy Gate

Season 9 of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" focused heavily on the controversy surrounding Lisa Vanderpump, her Vanderpump Dogs and Dorit Kemsley. The drama started after it was revealed that Kemsley gave away Lucy Lucy Apple Juice, the dog she adopted Vanderpump's foundation, after she allegedly bit husband Paul and their two kids "a few times." However, the new owner didn't seem to want the puppy and sent Lucy to a shelter.

That wouldn't be a problem because neither Dorit nor LVP knew that the new owner of Lucy gave her to kill shelter, until Lisa Rinna shared her opinion on the matter. The actress apparently thought that the whole thing was a set-up by Lisa to make herself good since she had been urging everyone to just let it in the past. In Lisa's theory, the Puppy Gate was used to get Kyle Richards and Teddi Mellencamp mad at Dorit because they used to have a history with the latter. "All Lisa Vanderpump wants to do is punish Dorit about the dog. She can't do it so she had those boys do it. She doesn't want to get her hands dirty," said Lisa.

Things went further south when Teddi admitted that she did orchestrate the Puppy Gate with John Blizzard under LVP's instruction. Teddi shared she was feeling betrayed when she saw LVP trying to get her hands clean so that she could be "relevant" and be "the hero to Dorit." LVP vehemently denied the accusation, insisting that she was never "the one who brought it out in the dog center."

As for Kyle, she was initially torn between believing in LVP or Teddi, but she eventually thought Teddi told the truth. The whole cast wanted LVP to apologize for the mess she started but she refused to do so. LVP even decided to skip season 9 reunion altogether and exited the show.

"The Bachelor" is a TV show where you see a man going through a journey to find the love of his life to whom he will propose at the end of the show. However, Colton Underwood sparked chatter online with his unconventional decision in the finale of his season of the ABC dating show. Colton made history that night by being the first Bachelor who was left alone in the finale.

Season 23 featured Hannah Godwin and Tayshia Adams being the remaining two women for the former football player, after Cassie Randolph broke up with him. However, because Colton was so convinced that the one he loved was Cassie, he didn't hesitate to take an unprecedented move in the show's history by sending home both Hannah and Tayshia and going back to beg Cassie to be back. "I'm willing to do anything and everything because that's how much I love Cassie," Colton said at the time.

In the second part of the finale, Colton and Cassie could be seen having a serious talk as Colton tried to convince Cassie that his feelings were real. It worked because then the pair jetted to Spain to meet his family. The couple ended up together, though they didn't upgrade their status to fiance and fiancee. They are still going strong until now and have informed their fans that they are taking their relationship slowly.

4. 'Leaving Neverland': Sexual Abuse Allegations Leveled Against Michael Jackson

Directed and produced by British filmmaker Dan Reed, "Leaving Neverland" stirred up controversy as it featured two men, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who claimed to be sexually abused as children by late singer Michael Jackson. In the HBO documentary, which aired on March 3 and 4, they detailed the sexual assault they experienced as kids at the hands of the music icon.

Despite being critically acclaimed, the show garnered mixed reactions from viewers, fans and family members of the singer. Some dubbed the documentary a "character assassination" and MJ's nephew Taj Jackson dismissed the TV movie as "one-sided hit job." Amazon Prime Video even launched "Michael Jackson: Chase the Truth" on August 13 to counter "Leaving Neverland".

Michael's daughter Paris Jackson also reacted to the documentary, writing on Twitter, "there's nothing i can say that hasn't already been said in regards to defense. taj is doing a perfect job on his own. and i support him. but that's not my role. i'm just tryna get everyone to chill out and go with the flow, be mellow and think about the bigger picture. that's me."

Oprah Winfrey also received extreme backlash following an interview with Michael's accusers on "Oprah Winfrey Presents: After Neverland" that premiered immediately after the explosive documentary. In response to the criticism, the talk show queen said, "I haven't had that much hateration since I did the puppy episode with Ellen [DeGeneres]. But when I saw that documentary, I realized that a lot of people are going to be triggered by watching it. I have done 217 shows trying to get people to understand that it's not about one person, that it is about the pattern. It is about the seduction."

5. 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta': NeNe Leakes' Attack on Cameraman and Pregnant Porsha Williams

Bravo

Known as Belt Gate, the issue took the center stage during season 11 of Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta". It first started after NeNe Leakes hosted a "Bye Wig" party , which was aired back in March, at her house with the rest of the cast members attending. During the party, Porsha Williams and Kandi Burruss pressed NeNe to show her "secret closet" though the latter refused, reasoning that was "not together" and "stupid" at that time.

However, that didn't stop Porsha and Kandi from heading to the room, much to NeNe's dismay. The thought of her unorganized room making it on air scared her so much when she saw a cameraman tagging along them. NeNe quickly got up and yanked the staff member's shirt. That was when things took a violent turn. "Get the f**k out of my closet, b***h. Don't f***ing play with me motherf***er. I will f**k you up," NeNe could be heard screaming.

Making things worse, it was also said that NeNe assaulted Porsha, who was pregnant at the time, resulting in her belt coming off of her. NeNe, however, denies attacking Porsha and addressed it in a YouTube video, saying, "So Porsha is the only one saying that she was touched. Or I think what she's saying is that her belt came off so she just assumed that I touched her so her belt came off. I'd like to know how is that possible - and that's what I told her at the reunion. I was not even behind you, so how could I touch your belt?"

Following the epic altercation, NeNe started beefing with almost everyone in the cast including Porsha, Kandi and Cynthia Bailey. She was rumored to be exiting the Bravo show when she was reportedly absent when they started filming for season 12. However, NeNe decided to go back, alluding in some interviews that she was the queen of the show considering she was the only remaining OG cast member.

6. 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians': Tristan Thompson Cheating on Khloe Kardashian With Jordyn Woods

Fans were shocked when reports of Tristan Thompson cheating on Khloe Kardashian emerged online back in February. In addition, it was not the first time for the Cleveland Cavaliers to do so, the fact that he cheated on the TV star with a family friend Jordyn Woods further surprised everyone even more, especially because it happened not long before Khloe gave birth to their first child True Thompson. The scandal, which led to their breakup, unsurprisingly was later addressed at the end of season 16 of the famous clan's longtime TV series "Keeping Up with the Kardashians".

After she learned from Kim Kardashian about Tristan and Jordyn being allegedly "all over" each other a party house, Khloe didn't waste much time to confront Jordyn. "She's not giving me all the information," Khloe said of Kylie Jenner's former BFF. "She was like, 'He was trying to kiss me,' and was like, 'I can't remember if we did or didn't.' I said, 'If you are too nervous to tell me something, you can text me.' And she said, 'Okay, I'll call you in five minutes.' She hasn't called me, and that was like, 20 minutes ago."

Things went crazier with Tristan threatening to commit suicide if Khloe continued to refuse to meet him and Jordyn deciding to go to Jada Pinkett Smith's talk show "Red Table Talk" to talk about the whole scandal. Khloe understandably reacted strongly to it, yelling to mom Kris Jenner, "My world got destroyed and Jordyn is doing press interviews about it? Who the f**k do you think you are? Who the f**k does this b***h think she is?"

She even called Jordyn out on Twitter, writing, "Why are you lying @jordynwoods ?? If you're going to try and save yourself by going public, INSTEAD OF CALLING ME PRIVATELY TO APOLOGIZE FIRST, at least be HONEST about your story. BTW, You ARE the reason my family broke up!"

The drama also affected Kylie and Jordyn's friendship with the latter moving out from the Kylie Cosmetics founder's house. Meanwhile, Tristan lately received a lot of flak for his continuous attempt to flirt with Khloe on Instagram.

7. '90 Day Fiance': Jay Smith and Ashley Martson's Tumultuous Marriage

TLC

Larissa Dos Santos Lima and Colt Johnson are not the only couple whose relationship took the center stage on "90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After", which premiered on April 8. Jay Smith and Ashley Martson's tumultuous marriage caught people's attention for so many reasons, including their huge age gap, cheating allegations and the many times Ashley filed for divorce from Jay, whom she met in Jamaica.

There was trouble in paradise in January, eight months after their wedding, when Ashley filed for divorce in a Pennsylvania court after she found out Jay used a dating app just three days after the wedding. However, she appeared to change her mind by withdrawing the paperwork one day later after Jay came to visit her at the hospital. "I may have hurt you. I may have not been a good husband. Jumping on a plane the second I found out you was in the hospital was something I didn't even think twice to do," 20-year-old Jay wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post.

The happy reconciliation, however, didn't last long with her filing for divorce this summer. This time, the split was kind of messy with Ashley accusing Jay of getting another girl pregnant. In an interview with In Touch Weekly, the 33-year-old said, "What my friend is saying turned out to be true and Jay confirmed it himself on the phone that he did indeed have another girl who is claiming he got her pregnant." Jay quickly hit back, calling Ashley an attention-seeker. "All I gotta say is I don't need to lie to media just to get attention," he said. "The internet is not for me. No one is pregnant from me. No one is pregnant from me. That's number one."

Following the ups and downs, Jay and Ashley were officially divorced on November 21. The latter couldn't help but rejoice over her new status, writing on Instagram Stories, "Today's a good day! I'm Officially a single Woman!!! I'm single again, Figured I would Update everyone since it's the most frequent asked Question. He finally signed." Even though she said that it was a "Happy Divorce," Ashley apparently still felt "like a failure." She admitted, "My last post may sound like I'm happy, which I am to put this chapter behind me, but it's a hard pill to swallow."

8. 'Surviving R. Kelly': Sexual Assault Allegations Against R. Kelly

Lifetime's docuseries "Surviving R. Kelly" became the talk of the town following its premiere on January 3. Not only viewers, but also celebrities took to social media to react to the explosive 6-part documentary that detailed testimony from women who accuse Kelly of mental, physical and sexual abuse, as well as interviews with associates and relatives of the singer. Also providing commentary in the documentary were Tarana Burke, the founder of the #MeToo movement, and John Legend.

Viewers praised the documentary and the women who came forward with the stories about the 51-year-old musician who has a history of sexually and physically abusing women and young girls. "Huge shoutout to lifetime for giving these African American women a platform to speak about the abuse they endured by the hands of R. Kelly. It was about time a documentary finally came out," one impressed viewer tweeted following the airing of the documentary.

Following the airing of the documentary, R. Kelly's music saw a 16 percent jump in Spotify streams. Additionally, a Facebook group named "Surviving Lies" emerged, attempting to discredit the musician's accusers as well as expose their personal information.

The biggest impact of "Surviving R. Kelly" was probably the fact that the Fulton County District Attorney's Office opened an investigation into the sexual harassment claims with ore survivors coming forward. Things continued to go south for R. Kelly as his record label blocked his new music, and artists including Celine Dion and Lady GaGa spoke against him. The 52-year-old singer was eventually arrested in July with 13 charges, including child abuse images and obstruction of justice.

9. 'Dog the Bounty Hunter': Beth Chapman's Devastating Death

This year seems to be a hard year for Duane Chapman a.k.a. Dog the Bounty Hunter. The "Dog's Most Wanted" star went through the hardest time in his life when his wife Beth Chapman passed away on June 26 at the age of 51.

The whole journey of Beth's medical process after she was diagnosed with stage II throat cancer was well documented on the series. Viewers could see Dog showing raw emotion following the devastating death of his wife in the season finale of the WGN America show which aired in September.

Duane looked so out of it during a meeting with his daughters, Lyssa, Bonnie and Cecily, hours after Beth's passing. "It feels like it’s not real," said Lyssa, who's one of Duane's children with his third wife, Lyssa Brittain. "We've prepared for this for a while," Duane responded. "I don't care how much you prepare, it's tough."

Recalling his moment with his late wife five days earlier, Duane said in a confessional, "We were flying from Colorado and [Beth] started feeling not so good." Beth later started to get hard breathing and he quickly instructed Cecily to call 911. "I just hear my dad yell, 'Everybody get out of the house. Cecily, get here right now,' " an emotional Cecily added. "You kind of just know."

Following her death, the Chapmans released a statement that read, "Beth died at 5:32 this morning, the same time she would wake up to go hiking Koko Head. The exact same time. She was surrounded by family and Dog was there, holding her hand."
